One of the Netherlands’ most common and recognised residents and the largest of its kind in the country. The great tit has a widely varying call and is easy to recognise with its yellow body and black head. The great tit frequents deciduous woodlands and is a familiar and welcome sight in many villages and towns. It often breeds in nesting boxes and will eagerly scoff anything you put out for it in winter. Unfortunately a harsh winter will exert a hard toll on the great tit.
